What is the We Are Undefeatable app?

The We are Undefeatable app is our new free resource, giving you tailored exercise programmes that can be completed anywhere, anytime, and are suitable for a range of health conditions, no matter where you are in your journey. 

We are only releasing the app to a limited number of people, so you have the chance to shape it for you, and for other people living with long term health conditions.

Who is the app for?

The We Are Undefeatable app is for people with a range of health conditions, whether you’re just getting started, returning to activity or looking to try something new. It’s been developed in conjunction with a coalition of health and social care charities across the UK who support people living with:

  • Arthritis and Musculoskeletal conditions
  • Long term limiting mobility conditions
  • Asthma
  • Cancer
  • Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease/ Lung Condition
  • Dementia
  • Heart Disease
  • Stroke
  • Hypertension (or other heart related condition)
  • Long term depression or anxiety
  • Multiple sclerosis
  • Parkinson's
  • Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes  

The app may also be suitable for people with other conditions or multiple conditions, beyond those listed above, who are able to be independently active, or been told they would benefit from moving more.  

The app is not for the small number of people who may have been advised against physical activity altogether or require specialist supervised activity. At this time, we are unable to fully cater to people who have paralysis. However, there are upper body routines that may suit your needs if you have lower body paralysis, or if you have partial body paralysis (such as down one side), you could try out one of our 'strength', 'cardio', 'balance', 'flexibility' or 'core' exercises and adapt the exercises to suit you and your body. For example there are seated or supported options available and you can adapt the exercises with smaller movements. We recommend starting your first session at the easiest level before progressing to anything more difficult and ensuring you rest when you need. If you have any concerns a therapist could support you with individual advice.

For most people with long term or multiple long term conditions it’s safe to be active, with numerous benefits. However, if you have concerns about the management of your conditions/symptoms and what being active would mean for them, please look at our campaign partner pages or consider visiting other charity websites relevant to your condition, for more information. If you still have questions speak to your GP or where applicable, your specialist healthcare professional.  

I keep seeing the name ‘Good Boost’. Who are Good Boost and what is their involvement?

You may have seen the name ‘Good Boost’ throughout the app. Good Boost are the app developer company that we have worked with to create and co-design the We Are Undefeatable app. They are an award winning health tech provider, focusing on effective self management via physical activity, for people living with a range of long term health conditions. As Good Boost are the app developers, all data will be held and stored with them. Read our terms of use. If you have any issues or feedback, this can be sent via the app ('My profile' --> Settings --> 'Send feedback') or via email: weareundefeatable@goodboost.org  

Is the app free?

The We Are Undefeatable app is completely free to download, and use including unlimited access to all individual and group sessions.

How can I get the app?

You can download the app for free via Google Play for Android and the App Store for iOS.  

What devices is this app available on?

The We Are Undefeatable app requires either an Android or iOS device. If you are using an Android device you will need Android 10 or higher.

If you are using an iOS device, you will need the following:  

iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: requires iOS 13.4 or later. 

Mac: requires macOS 11.0 or later and a Mac with Apple M1 chip or later. 

Apple Vision: requires visionOS 1.0 or later. 

What is included in the app?

You can get all the following from the app for free: 

  • Access to individual on-demand workouts tailored to you and your body.
  • Exercises and workouts developed by experienced and qualified physiotherapists.
  • Easy to follow movements demonstrated by your chosen animated activity guide.
  • Virtual group sessions with a live host from the comfort of your own home.
  • The opportunity to meet and chat with others virtually after taking part in a group session.
  • In-app tools available to help you stay on track. 
Do I need internet to use this app?

Yes. You will need either Wi-Fi or 4G/5G to use this app. If you do not have access to the internet, you may find a location near you that offers free internet connection, whether that’s a local leisure centre or your library.  

If you are struggling with connection, you will receive a pop-up banner telling you to check your internet connection. If this keeps happening, complete the following:

  1. Try going back a screen, from the one you are on. This might sort the connection issue straight away.
  2. Check your Wi-Fi or mobile data connection.
  3. Close and reopen the app.
  4. Uninstall and reinstall the app. 
Do I need any equipment?

This app is fully tailored to you and it is up to you if or what equipment you might want to use. We always suggest ‘at home’ alternatives such as cans of beans, a bag of sugar or a pillow instead of weights. Or some tights or long socks for a resistance band.  

If you select to use equipment the main pieces of are:

  • A form of weight
  • A resistance band
  • A chair
  • A step
  • An area for support like a worktop, desk or table 
How is the distance and timing calculated on 'Goals’?

When you complete an exercise session within the app, whether it is individual or group, your activity is converted into ‘goal progress’, which contributes to the distance and duration of the goal. The more sessions you complete, the more you will progress with your goal. Please note: only individual sessions will contribute to individual goal progression, and only virtual group sessions will contribute to group goal progression.

How do I get started? 
  1. Watch our introduction video to understand a bit more about what the app can offer.
  2. Download the app to your mobile device via Google Play or the App Store.
  3. Complete the registration and sign up process.
  4. Answer a few questions so we get to know a bit more about you.
  5. Start getting active!
What do I do if the app isn’t working?

We are sorry to hear that you are having difficulty using the app. As a starting point, please see our introduction video to understand a bit more about what the app can offer. If you are having connection issues, please try the following:

  1. Try going back a screen, from the one you are on. This might sort the connection issue straight away.
  2. Check your Wi-Fi or mobile data connection.
  3. Close and reopen the app.
